2009 Smarter than Smoking WJMC Open
was held at the weekend Sunday 16th August at Pinjar Park.
With 7 nominations for the Blaster Class 200cc to 300cc the gate only dropped with 6 riders and both Bernice and Shannon were out to mix it up with the boy’s. As they all bunched into the first corner it was Anthony Pearce up and over the first jump and out in front. Not to be out done followed by Bernice and Shannon a couple of laps in and Bernice pulled the bike in got the problem sorted and back out again.
Race 1 saw Anthony Pearce 1st, Shannon Clinton 2nd, and Tyson Evan 3rd.
As the rain drizzled and the blasters lined up Race 2 commenced again seeing everyone tight to the corner but a clear holeshot to be noticed as out in front Anthony Pearce pulled away from the pack with Bernice and Shannon tussling for that clear second position the rain became heavier and the track became more demanding.
Race 2 saw Anthony Pearce 1st, Bernice Ackermann 2nd, Shannon Clinton 3rd.
Race 3 and again the rain fell heavier and with the track already so demanding and heavy on the bike it was Anthony Pearce straight to the front closely followed behind by Bernice Ackermann and Shannon Clinton with one lap down and the time clock ticking it was Anthony Pearce that managed 3 straight wins.
Credit to the other riders and especially to the girls Bernice and Shannon . All in all it was a good day of racing and it was the Blasters who finished 1, 2, 3.
The podium saw Anthony Pearce 1st Shannon Clinton 2nd and Bernice Ackermann 3rd.
