Press Release
WA AMATEUR on the rise

The ATV MX Championships in Murray Bridge on September 19th & 20th 2009 attracted top riders from around county to battle it out on the track in the effort of attaining a top rank within the country.  Ross Varnavides of Western Australia is one to watch in 2010; with only one season of quad racing under his belt he managed to take out first position in the Intermediate division in a hard fought battle between some of racings up and coming superstars.  This sees him as the newest contender in the pro class, battling it out amongst the best in Australia for a highly prestigious Pro Title in 2010 and beyond.

Over the course of the weekend some intense competition between youngster Luke Nixon
, Mark Allcorn and Varnavides made a thrilling presentation for spectators.  Holeshotts would be rewarded on the challenging circuit with dust and ruts making passing difficult.  Three first corner victories set Ross up quite well; however Nixon and Allcorn rode hard to profit from any mistakes Ross may have made.  Keeping a cool head, Ross managed 3 race wins and 2 second places giving him the overall top result for the championship.

Upon his return to the West we learnt that Ross is not one to boast of his achievements.  He is a very humble young man that simply enjoys competitive racing.  His dream to one day represent internationally in 4 Wheel Motocross racing is one that is certainly within reach with names behind him such as the firm Fashion Heir that has a global network behind them.  Ross looks forward to a long and fulfilling career that is due to unfold as he steps it up to the Pro level next season.

In correspondence with the youngster he mentioned “I couldn’t be happier with the win, racing the event was a late decision however my sponsors and my family are what made it all possible.  I am just stoked that I was able to return a result to them.  Although this is my greatest achievement to date, I consider it more a stepping stone towards making a successful racing career.”  Ross also commends Luke Nixon on his performance. “I have read about this boy in magazines on the junior scene and enjoyed the wheel to wheel battles with him. He is a very talented rider and I look forward to lining up next to him in the future”.

Ross highlighted, in closing of our correspondence, to make special mention of his loyal family and sponsors, including his Uncle Shane, Fashion Heir, Scott, Tachyon, and of course his dedicated parents, siblings and girlfriend Rebecca.  Like many young riders with true ambition, he hopes to attract a big name sponsor that is looking to attain mass exposure as he continues his journey into the promising future.  Ross mentioned in closing “the sponsors are the ones that make it possible for me to race competitively, without them and the brands they represent, I would still be sitting as a spectator, longing to be out there”.
