TUMBULGUM 2007
Tumbulgum 2007

Let me describe Tumbulgum for those of you who didn’t come…..
Saturday
380 Riders, yep that’s no exaggeration, and they were all Seniors 2 & 4 wheel, every Grid was full.
Tractor Pulls{noisy as} Monster Truck that was landing on top of cars in the fenced off display area, Matt Shubring and 4 other freestylers doing many shows throughout the day and night. Display of Trials bikes, Demonstration of remote control cars that they had flying over jumps. There was a huge crane that when it didn’t hold a massive KTM illuminated sign, it had a Basket manned with camermen. There was a scissor lift that propelled people into the air for $2 per race, which all the photographers took advantage off. After the helicopter dropped in the Marmont boys onto the start straight, it offered Joy flights all day. Then there was bumper cars and a ferris wheel thing, fairy floss and the best Hot Doughnuts, plenty of food vans, Bar etc.

We were lucky enough to be in one of the sponsors tents"Honda Country Rockingham" lining the start straight, and it felt like we were racing a full 2km Natural Terrain Motocross track in the middle of the royal show. It was amazing exciting and such a great day out….
We went home Saturday night after the seniors and returned Sunday for the Juniors, a little less riders {170} but none the less it was another great day out. Following each days racing was presentations, giveaways{spot prizes} and then at 9pm the band “Jay Babies” performed.

Senior Quads were really exciting to watch, Clint, Jarred and Anthony were all pushing for line honours and with State Round just 8 Days a way, you would have thought they would’ve been out for relaxing day out, but when the gates drop, all the riders want to be at the front. The split start certainly had everyone lining the start straight and gasps as they all hit the top of the hill to see who the final holeshot was as the group merged into one, the split also enabled riders, who may have been having trouble getting around someone, to split off onto the second track and drag the other rider to the top of the hill, hoping to come out in front of them. The Track was fast & exciting to watch, the racing was awesome.

Junior grids were ¾ full with 16 Blasters and 15 x 90cc, great to see such a brilliant turnout with all the kids enjoying not only the racing, but side show alley and beyond. Chris, Donovan, Daniel M, Harley and Daniel S held the front 5 positions all day in the 90cc class, with some brilliant racing, manoeuvres and using the split for these kids just added to the spectacle. The Blaster class seems to have new riders with building interest at every event, I’m sure there will be more than 20 soon, but with a few of the kids turning 16 at the end of the year, this class is now holding its own. Luke, Brayden, Kyle, Markus Jordan, Joel and Simone were all going scary fast, and the position changed throughout the race, it just goes to show how far these kids have come over the last 12 months.
