"Summercross" was run under lights at Coastal Park Henderson. Best described as a shortened MX track, designed to showcase Spectacular Fast & Tight Racing, higher Jumps, including technical features to advantage riders picking best lines.
Twenty Quad Racers entered "Summercross", the night consisted of two Qualifying mixed rounds. The 10 fastest riders Qualified for the final, while the rest raced a consolation final.
Race one saw Glenn Ashworth lead from gates to the finish flag, with Luke Gaisford and Jesse Dick taking out the minor placings. Race two Steve Trandos followed by Brad Filbey after putting a brilliant pass on Grant Gaisford who came in third.
Race 3 Ashworth again with the easy win, while Luke Gaisford and Grant Gaisford took the quinella in heat 4.
After much deliberation the qualifiers for the final were on the line.
The first obstacle on the track was a tight split start, the final saw plenty of nerf bar noise through this section and Gaisford a horror start, 9th over the first jump, 5th past the first table top, moving up to 4th by lap 2. Brad Filbey, Glenn Ashworth and Steve Trandos were the front runners.
Gaisford passed Trandos, while Ashworth got hooked up in the side of a jump leaving the two youngsters to race for line honours, out jumping, outbreaking each other, it came down to the final split corner, side by side, Gaisford taking inside/outside, Filbey outside/inside with Gaisford pulling in front, to reach the chequers for his first "Senior Open Win"
