The 200cc class lined up in 2 groups to see who would qualify the fastest to make the final field of 10, the gates dropped and a battle royal developed "it was on" WOW these guys and gals really went hammer and tongs - no place for the faint hearted in this group over the short course with #30 Adam Davies (Pine Services Yamaha) taking the winners trophy just ahead of #21 Marcus Smith (Quad Squad Yamaha) and very closely followed by young 13yo #16 Donovan Petersen (Automasters Fremantle Yamaha) who has really stepped up his racing since upgrading to the 200/300 group just on 1 year ago. Racing was fast and furious as the rest of the field finished with #7 Joel, #64 Anthony, #44 Anton, #23 Nicholas, #22 Melissa, #52 Bernice and #26 Jordan who lead the field and won the first heat and was hoping to be in the mix for a podium finish – sadly suffered a DNF in the final

The 2009 Moto x season opener summercross at coastals got off to a great start with good number’s on the grid in both the 90cc and 200cc class, the 90cc group were first out of the blocks with young #10 Chris Bosnakis 1st onboard the (Stanford Cabinets 2 stroke Cobra), followed by #88 Maverick Cuthbert 2nd on the (Legend Quads 4 stroke Honda) and #56 James Ognenis 3rd (Ambershore 2 stroke Pro-Shark) Racing was very good with Chris and Maverick both clearing the tabletop jump on the down ramp on their Quads, while #56 James, #17 Adam, #38 Daniel, #65 Corey, #98 Shania and #7 Zachary all raced very well.
Shania Hutchins showed the big crowd, how well a Honda 90cc could wheel-stand on the tabletop jump, and with only 1 season of racing under her belt showed maturity beyond her years to put the front wheels backdown (just) to earth and continue on her merry way racing.
