Rider - Race Report
Luke Gaisford
Promoter of the 2011 Rockstar MX Nationals Kevin Williams put out the invite to the Pro Quad Racers of Australia to be part of the finale to the MX 9 Round series in Coolum Queensland.
A list of riders were extended an invite to be part of this prestigious and inaugural event,
of which 16 gridded up to race.
The number 1 and 2 riders in the country were hot favourites for a podium after taking their seeded plates at the 2010 Australian Quad MX Championships in front of a host of Internationals and Australia’s best Quad riders.
Gaisford was on board with the Hardiman Kawasaki ATV Team for the weekends racing, with Lukes first ride on the Kawasaki being practice and qualifying.
Luke was pretty happy taking the fastest laptime with a 1min 47. Ryan Lancaster put in a 1.48 to clinch 2nd while Jordan Dummett who sits in 2nd position in the current WA series clocked a 1.49. Qualifying 1st meant Luke would get first gate pick all weekend.
Race 1 saw Jordan Dummett take the holeshot, but Ryan Lancaster made the pass, Gaisford put the passes in and got up to second while Dummett came to grief losing his third place, but holding onto 9th place points
Race 2 Was a full WA podium with Lancaster dialed in taking the holeshot and then leading the 6 lap moto. Gaisford was getting a handle on the Kawasaki set-up and went through the chequers behind Lancaster in 2nd, both riders with a good lead in front of 3rd Jordan Dummett.
Race 3 was pretty much a repeat with Lancaster sealing the win with Gaisford in second, Dummett took 4th.
Race 4 Lancaster with the holeshot, Gaisford soon up into 2nd while Dummett raced a tough moto to take 4th. Luke was pretty happy across the 4 moto's on a bike he had'nt ridden before, getting better and better across each moto, to finish the last race just 4 seconds off the lead.
Overall Results
1st Ryan Lancaster
2nd Luke Gaisford
3rd Mitchell VanVliet
4th Jordan Dummett
Luke would like to thank everyone who helped to make his journey to Coolum.
The Hardiman Kawasaki ATV Team, Luke Beechey Motorsports, Paul Worth and Todd O’Leary, it was very much appreciated, without the support he couldn’t have made it there to race.
