Kalgoorlie Golden Wheel Sept 30th Oct 1st 2006
Junior Golden Wheel
This weekend we travelled to Kalgoorlie for the whole family to participate in the "Golden Wheel" Unfortunately Simone had a bit of an accident a few weeks earlier and is still not able to participate, so Luke along with Kyle, Jordon, Marcus, John, Roxy and Jet-Lee all decided to make the 700km journey to Kal and check out Stevo's track and race on his turf. Steven has been making the trek to the Coastal Club days all year and it was good to return the favour..
New riders Kyle, Marcus and Jordon took all 3 podium positions for the day and taking home some beautiful trophies.
Ten Juniors participated in the 90cc class including Chris, Donovan, Jay, Daniel M, Casey, John, Aston, Harley, Luke and Justin. This class is slowly building numbers and all riders are showing more skill and faster speed at every race meet. Chris had a trifecta of wins amazingly getting his best lap time in the LAST race of the day. Aston finished in second with Local Kalgoorlie boy Daniel M in 3rd.

Senior Golden Wheel

Fifteen riders raced this years Golden Wheel Classic making the journey from Perth, Esperance and Norseman. It was the first time we had been to the Goldfields Motorcycle Club and we were pretty blown away to see their fantastic facilities including the green lawns for the spectator area and I was shown their VIP room, fully airconditioned and with views across the entire track.
Racing was fierce with the hole-shot marker accompanied by a small grandstand of people cheering on every race. Chad Mckay stormed to the front on the first race with GT tight in behind, 13 other riders mixed it up across the track wearing the roost of the front line attack. Chad held 1st place for the first lap with GT overtaking in the second only to stall and be overtaken again by McKay, GT took the leed back  and held on to take the chequered. Dave Sanders came in 3rd and got the whole Quad fratenities attention finishing just 10 seconds or so behind two of the fastest Quad riders in the country.
Race 2 saw GT take the Hole-shot and high tail it out of traffic, no one saw anything but his dust the entire race, Wheres that #527 Honda? the whoops had taken their first casualty with an end for end by the Honda rider, he wasnt finished, remounted his quad and worked back through the field to hold onto 8th. McKay took another 2nd with Jefferies in 3rd.
Lunch break was held around 1pm all the sprinklers came on and some intense watering took place, I headed up to the holeshot marker as I was told the whoops would make some good photo's. Graham Terry stamped his name all over the Holeshot again, The family next to me were commenting about how fast that Orange KTM Quad was going, I had a small chuckle and focused on the whoops, with the sequential in tact, I couldnt believe my eyes, the whoops were full of mud, slush and water, The riders held on and did their best to get through this technical obstacle{check out the pics http://www.waquadmx.com/kgw06.html } Mckay and Terry wanted the win and were putting on a brilliant show for the cheering crowd when mechanical failure ended Chad's day. Meanwhile Tom Stevens burst through the traffic and passed a few riders to take him right up into third position behind Jefferies, who with a consistant day held out for second place overall to Graham Terry, with David Sanders coming in third.
