Chad Peters Memorial
June 3rd & 4th

It was with great sadness that the Motocross community lost one of its dearest friends
and supporters.  Chad lost his battle with cancer earlier this year and his friend David Geneve took upon setting up the Chad Peters Memorial event. His working crew of the WA Senior MX Committee and the BSA Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club workers, along with many of Chads friends and family set about to raise a stack of money for the Cancer Council of WA.

A Target was set and the work begun, a race event over 2 days, including all classes solos and quads, seniors and Juniors, a monster Auction, legends race and a convoy of road bikes to the event, Invited Stars from the East and home grown Stars of the West. This was going to be an event that would rival the Manjimup 15000 of which this event replaced this June long weekend.

Saturday looked to be a quieter day than we had hoped for, many of the Junior solo riders not supporting the event, for whatever reasons are unknown, 80 riders including 2 Junior Quad classes enjoyed the perfectly prepped track and 4 rounds of racing.
Junior Blasters had a field of 8 and put on a brilliant display of skill rivalling their two wheeled counter parts for best lap times. The commentators seeing the fierce competition of at least 5 riders lap after lap were as excitable as the parents with the kids pushing each other to race as fast as Ive ever seen. Well done to all the Blaster riders, you are all Champions, I don’t think you all realise just how much you have improved and how fast your all going. No one will forget the 90cc Class, the kids are flying and I heard an official on the day comment on the skill level of some of the riders being exceptional. Since Saturday weve seen bike upgrades and new racers get their licenses for forthcoming events, lets hope to see this class flourish.

Clubmans saw a mixed bag of quality racers putting in lap times that would see them podium in the pro class to brand new woman racers. Welcome to all the new racers that joined in the Clubman class on Saturday and did over 20 laps on the Noble Falls Circuit.

Sunday began quite emotionally for those of us who knew Chad, the National Anthem and one minutes silence was quite a scene on the start straight. The Honda Shop Racing team sat abreast of the hill for photo’s followed by the roar of 195 riders warming up their bikes for practice. Quads had one class on Sunday, with an assortment of National Champions on the track you just knew the racing was going to be spectacular. Every race had the crowd hanging over the fence to see who would holeshot, no one was out their playing this day, pride and fastest lap times were on the line. Noble Falls is one track where Quads can hold their own against anyone’s lap times including the likes of Marmont, Addison and Porter.

It is quite amazing the atmosphere of the day was so competitive yet in the pits it was very social and very friendly, I’m sure Chad would have been proud to have seen 4 classes of Quads compete over the weekend remembering what was most important, to get out and be involved and have a go.
The event raised in excess of $25 000 for Cancer research, Everyone should be very proud of their contributions whether they raced, volunteered or came along to spectate.
Donations will be excepted through the MWA office until June 13th
