Nov 8th saw the culmination of months of work from the newly formed MWA Quad Panel.
The task of promoting Quad Motocross to the un-iniated was the first challenge. A Huge turnout of 90 plus riders converged on the WJMC Pinjar Park circuit for a day of riding, information and fun. About half of the riders had either ridden before, or where brand new to the structure of racing on an MX Track, and about half the riders were there to support, teach, coach and promote the sport of Quad Riding.
KTM were on board supporting the event by donating Medallions for all participants and prizes for the end of the day. WJMC were fully supportive of the promotion of Quad MX in WA and put in a huge effort preparing the track and all facilities for the day. The weather was almost perfect and the track and facilities presented really well. So a big big thank you to both KTM & WJMC for their support.
Thanks also go to all the participants, families and friends for being part of the event, for assisting on the day with all the usual tasks that need doing such as flagging and working in the canteen. We had many volunteers for the day and the Quad panel and WJMC thank everyone for this. Without volunteers, events such as this, can not be so successful.
By 7am on the day there was a real buzz in the air as trailer after trailer poured into the carpark. You could not help but see and sense the excitement as the riders were unloading and preparing their bikes and signing in for what was set to be a great day of riding.
One of the organisers Ozy Osborne stated:
"It was a great day, only heard good things all day which is great. There was a lot of people that helped make this day great fun, you all know who you are, so a pat on the back to all. Got to also thank WJMCC members for going to so much effort and KTM for providing the medals and prizes. Without the support from these guys we would not have had an event.
I personally found it quite rewarding just seeing all those kids out there with huge grins after each race. And the womens class was huge, could not believe we almost had a full grid of girls and ladies. That was brilliant.
And as for the guys, there was some really quick riders out there, and there's a few amongst them that should definitely start racing??
The WJMC president made a speech at the medallion presentations thanking everyone for their support and attendance and stated that the club thought it was a huge success and were proud to be part of the Quad MX development in Perth.
I hope we can do it all again and get such a good turn out."
