The 2008 Coastal Kid was held on Sunday with 9 starters on the grid in the 90cc quad class for practice. During which the heavens opened up and the rain bucketed down. Some chose to "leave early" and others decided to slug it out and stay, and lucky they did stay, as the skies cleared prior to the first race and stayed that way for the rest of the day, leaving us all to enjoy a beautiful (though chilly) spring afternoon of Quad Racing.
Maverick Cuthbert on the Legend Quad Services Honda TRX90 finished with 3 race wins to take the winners trophy, followed by Shania Hutchins on the Prestige Honda TRX90 in 2nd place for her second podium in a row having finished 2nd at the Wanneroo Junior 2 day event last month, and young Connor Johnston on the Hippie Diggers Polaris90 in 3rd position for his first podium of the year, so congratulations & well done to Connor.

The 2008 Coastal Kid was held on Sunday with 17 starters on the grid (including the Freo Doctor to help the slow starters along) in the 200/300cc quad class. Racing was very close with Kalgoorlie rider Stephen Wilson on the Legend Quad Services Honda TRX300 showing a "clean pair of heels" finishing with 3 race wins to take the winners trophy, followed closely by Adam Davies on the Highway Yamaha Blaster in 2nd place with Marcus Smith on the Quad Squad Blaster in 3rd position, These 3 riders really turned it on under the trying wet conditions with all 3 getting plenty of "big air" over the tabletop in the middle of the coastals track, Kyle Brenton was a consistent 4th throughout the day, Meanwhile youngsters Donovan Peterson, & Bernice Ackermann battled it out for 5th & 6th spots, with young guns Daniel Soltoggio 7th, Melissa Davies 8th, Daniel McKay 9th and David Norman 10th, had a battle royal between them with positions changing throughout the day, hard luck stories go to Brad filbey, Jordon Witham and Jordan Drummett, and to finish off our best wishes go out to the "best dressed gal on the race track" sporting a lovely cream & pale pink racetop with matching trousers, 16yo Shelby Soltoggio who suffered a suspected fracture of the wrist, that luckily turned out to be only a nasty sprain, suffered during a "close encounter" at the holeshot corner (who said she was a drama queen?!!!! "oh yes" it was her brother Daniel) so congratulations & well done to everyone on a great days spring racing.
