Coastal MCC Club Day July 29th 2007
Club Run 4 at Coastal Park threatened to be a wash out with winter rains forecast all week. Lucky for us the showers and wind all headed North of the river and we had a beautiful day.
Looking back over the day, it was quite eventful with 15 Blasters Participating, Roxanne Petersen celebrated her Birthday to the singing of 110 riders at the riders Briefing, Jackson Mckay and Brendon Papalia experienced their first Club Race meet, while Luke Gaisford was doing his last club run as a Junior.
Junior 90cc were represented by Donovan Petersen and Maverick Cuthbert, due to the mud on the second corner, all 3 Junior classes did a diverted course, up under the bridge, then finishing the entire track, great change for the kids and possibly a permanent change to come.
Plenty of action as usual in the Blaster Class with Simone Gaisford and Brayden Spencer coming to grief at Autotrader, David Norman stopped to lend assistance, showing great sportsmanship, Jackson rolled it on the first corner, Brendon got a little stuck in the mud. Adam Davies asserted himself with two race wins. The girls were just amazing, with battles taking place all over the track, Roxy, Simone, Jessica, Bernice and Melissa seemed to be holding their own race meet apart from the boys. Everyone put in a huge effort with Nick, David, Brendon and Jackson battling it out with each other, Joel,Brayden & Kyle dueled it out for maximum points. It will certainly be interesting to see where the points sit after this round of the Club Championships. Two more rounds to go ! see you there Aug 26th.
Senior Quads had a small Field of 5 with Chad McKay coming along to make sure the boys didnt take the club run easy!
Chad had a slight technical problem at the start of the second race and had given the other riders a fair head start, before he proceeded to chase most of them down, with only metres to go before he would have caught them all at the chequers.
Grant, Michael, Lyndsay and Brian raced all day and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of a club run.
Being Lukes last race meet, Luke myself and Grant would like to thank all the other Blaster riders for making the last two seasons of racing very special and truly memorable. To have 15 Blasters at every club run is more than we ever expected, and each and every race has been exciting to watch. The calibre of riding has improved with every race, and knowing that when these Juniors enter the senior ranks with Experience and ability, it will only make the Senior Clubman racing that much more professional.
