Pro Quads Race 1 saw Glen Ashworth take the lead early, Ryan Lancaster was in pursuit with Anthony Yewers a ways back in third, as they say, the race isn’t over to the chequers. Ryan Lancaster closed the gap on Ashworth and leading up to the quarry, Ashworth accelerated to increase the gap, jumping the quarry and coming unstuck, Lancaster rode past to take the lead with just 100metres to the finish flag, with Yewers also getting past before Ashworth a bit sore and sorry for himself held out Luke Gaisford for third.
Race 2 saw Yewers get into an early lead and hold Lancaster off with 6 seconds to spare taking a lucrative 25 points for the win, while Ashworth rounded out the top 3 taking third.
Race 3 again Ashworth took the holeshot but Yewers mastering the rough sand surface passed and increased his lead on the field, while Gaisford came off hard in the first Lap and Lancaster was out of the race. Gaisford started from the back and got himself into third with 2 laps to go and 10 seconds between himself and Ashworth, closing the gap, he managed to get past Ashworth and come through for his best race finish of the day in second
Overall placings for round 3
Anthony Yewers 1st 72pts Glen Ashworth 2nd 60pts Luke Gaisford 3rd 58pts
Intermediate Class quads is shaping up to be a real competitive class, where you cant really tell who are Pro’s and who are intermediates. Rick Stephens on his home track took the Days win while the podium positions for each race where shared between 5 riders. Ross Varnavides is definitely one to keep an eye on as he mixes it with the front running pro’s, while Daniel and Tom Udell continue to get better and better at every round. Jindong is their home track, lets see if home town advantage comes to fruition there.
Clubman Quads was dominated by Brad Filbey this round, after suffering a string of bad luck, Filbey won all three races and now holds a slim 4 point lead over Mitchell Clarke for the series, while Kyle Brenton showed moments of brilliance, but suffered a few crashes to come in 4th for the day and slips to third for the series. Adam Nagle regrouped from a not so good outing in Bunbury and was back on the podium in third for this round and moves into 4th place for the series.
Jindong could make or break this clubman grid, with a very competitive group of riders, the action is a plenty.
Practice for the Jindong round is June 20-21st
