WA State Quad MX Championships
Jindong Park Busselton
May 8th

The Quad Championships are the only state round event in 2010 where the junior and senior quads come together and race one of their state rounds towards their series. Except the Veterans 35+ and the Women's Quads who race for their annual state title.

The Women's quads were first up on the grid and hence stood for the National anthem in front of supporters and spectators, 11 women participated including many ex juniors up from the 200cc class. Plenty of action and competition between the top four finishing riders of Teniel Morgan, Bernice Ackermann, Simone Gaisford and Shelby Soltoggio.

The 90cc Modified Quad class saw some high flying by Chris Bosnakis, clearing the 75 footer to the amazement of most, Daniel Fletcher and James Ognenis battled it out and reversed the order from round 1 now leaving them heading into round 3 on equal points.

The 90cc Standard class saw PJ Clinton take a hatrick of wins, while Caitlin Barrett coming back from a horror first round took the 2nd place with Jack Baldock in 3rd.

Junior 200cc-300cc class was truly amazing with 19 riders filling the grid for some goosebump whirling starts. Anthony Pearce was out in front in the first race, when a mechanical problem saw him sidelined for over a lap, relinquishing the lead to race one winner Marcus Smith, Don Petersen followed him through in second.
Race 2 Pearce held it together and took the win, with Shaun Woodhead going one better from race 1 and getting second, Smith taking third.
Race 3 again saw Pearce take the lead but an off put paid to a high placing and  Don Petersen took the lead and held on to finish in front of Smith and Woodhead.
Overall 1st Marcus Smith 2nd Don Petersen 3rd Shaun Woodhead.
Six girls were out amongst the Junior 200cc grid, Melissa Davies put in a huge effort and came fourth outright, newcomer Caitlyn Tonkin outright 9th and Chloe Beer 11th.

Veteran Quads in WA is run for 35+ with 13 entries total was a good sized class with some great racing. The  overall podium placegetters battled it out all day, the fathers of families also out racing showed they still have what it takes, and had many comparing their laptimes to the much younger brigade who thought these oldies couldnt possibly do 1.50 and below laptimes.
1st Grant Gaisford 2nd Scott Higson 3rd Matt McKay

Clubman Quads Group A was dominated by Joel Mortimer taking the hatrick of wins, while Brayden Spencer showed moments of brilliance to take 2nd while Barry Noy out mixing it with the youngsters put in a solid days racing to take 3rd overall.

Clubman Quads Group B saw Adam Davies put in three good races to finish 1st while ironman Joel Mortimer competing in both classes took 2nd place, Travis Brown came back from a shocking first race off, to secure third overall.

The Championship Quad field of 14 riders were fast and furious across the first of the 15minute moto's, with local rider Mitchel Clark taking the lead in the first heat for half the race with Ryan Lancaster and Glen Ashworth in tow eating his rock spray, Lancaster finally got past, while Ashworth settled for 3rd place behind Clarke.
Race 2 was a six lap sprint with Ryan Lancaster taking the win, Glen Ashworth in 2nd and Luke Gaisford 3rd.
Moto 3 the last of the 15minute moto's was going to test the entire field as the track was slick and fast .Another flawless race from Lancaster saw him use race three as a training run, while Luke Gaisford battled his way through the field to finish second in race three and second on the podium for the day. Glen Ashworth was passed by Josh Higson and Jordan Dummett but the 5th for the race kept his third place for the day in check.
