Luke Gaisford started his Pro Quad Motocross Racing career on April 26th 2009 at his home Club Coastal Park at the WA State Motocross Championships Round 1.
One of the biggest  State round race meets in recent years, both Quad grids were at full capacity.
Luke started on the outside Gate in Race 1, roaring off to great start and getting through traffic smoothly to be in 4th position by end of lap 1, plenty of drama between the 2 front runners as Luke came through the carnage unscathed, following closely behind Ant Yewers in 2nd. A battle royal ensued as the oldest and youngest Pro’s battled it out in every corner, Ant successfully denied the youngster a pass at every challenge until with just one lap to go, Luke’s persistent’s paid off passing Yewers over the infield tabletop, he held on to the lead for his first Pro Race Win.
Race 2 saw Luke again in 4th at the end of the first lap, but passing Glen Ashworth put him in 3rd, and he held onto this position til the chequers.
Race 3 Luke got a good start and followed McKay and Yewers around in 3rd, the extremely rough track was a battle in itself to stay on, let alone put in fast laptimes, the Leader Chad Mckay came to grief over a jump and as Yewers and Gaisford grabbed the opportunity to put in a last ditch effort to race for the chequers only1 ½  seconds separated them over the finish line
Luke finished the day in 2nd and commented that he couldn’t wait til Round 2 !
