State Round 2 Shrublands Park Bunbury

Luke Gaisford travelled 90minutes south of the Perth Metro area for Round 2 of this years WA State Motocross Championships. Shrublands Park sand track is notorious for whooping out and with an estimated 300 riders, it was a given that round 2 had a rough ride in store for everyone.
6.30am and we were at scrutineering, on the kill switch check we found Luke's bike wasnt going to go, after quite a bit of frustration, it was decided that Luke would ride his Dad Grant's RPS '07 Honda TRX 450ER. With some adjustments and Luke's trusty Flexx bars added to the Honda, he set about to make the best of the day, packing the Can-Am in the trailer and focusing on the racing.
Using Practice to set handlebars and tune Shock settings, Luke went out in Race one, on the bike he started his senior career on back in 2007.
Luke performed really well and caught the front 3 riders, with Yewers 3rd in his sites, and closing the gap, jossling for position everywhere, with a drag race to the finish line, it was Yewers .3 of a second in front of Luke, 4th was good, but Luke was determined to do better.
Race 2 saw Luke Pass Ashworth, then Lancaster, and Varnavides and get up into 3rd place Behind winner Chad McKay and 2nd Anthony Yewers.
Race 3 was a great start, Luke picked a great Line and was closest to a holeshot he had seen this season, rounding the first corner and going over the first jump, Luke ran out of room and went off the side wall of the jump, rejoining the race, but rounding the second corner in 15th ! Passing groups of riders all over the track, the likes of Varnavides, Milling, Ashworth, Stacey, Lancaster. Luke was up in 2nd after 2 laps, he had done really well to get himself in clean air behind Chad McKay, with Ryan Lancaster quite a bit back behind him in 3rd, all riders were finding the track very tough, and plenty of them hitting the rev limiter and pulling themselves out of what couldve ended up some awful crashes.
