Round 3

Shrubland Park Bunbury was the venue for this round of racing, a week of rain lead up to a beautiful warm sunny day, the sand track was prepped beautifully, but with practice over it fluffed up and became quite whooped for racing.

Race 1 saw Ryan Lancaster out to a 10 second lead, passing the last lap board and heading into the final section of the track, Lancaster went over the bars, Luke Gaisford capitalised on the mistake and passed the fallen rider and took the chequers, Lancaster got back to hold second with Josh Higson in 3rd.

Race 2 saw Lancaster again with a great start, Glen Ashworth on his back wheels followed by Gaisford, Higson and McKay, Mckay passed Higson in the second lap while Gaisford was putting the move on Ashworth and Lancaster pulled away, Mckay passed Ashworth as well, to eventually take the third place behind Gaisford in 2nd and Lancaster taking the 1st place.

Race 3 Lancaster took the 3rd holeshot with Gaisford in tow and McKay all over him, half way through the 10minute journey Gaisford went into a corner a little too hot, and blew the 4 foot high berm, McKay took advantage and passed Gaisford and held the position until the last lap when Gaisford took advantage of a Mckay error and passed him back holding onto second place behind Lancaster.

Luke took second for the day and celebrated his second Championship Class Race win.

Half of this years series complete, Luke sits in second position overall. Points table

A Big shout out to Dave Hawley, your help is much appreciated!

July 11th

Winter struck Perth in the last 3 weeks with no less than 15 nights under 5 degrees Centigrade, Unfortunately for us, the cold spell was broken by the rain, the track and event were threatened with cancellation as some parts of the circuit were deemed to have caution written all over them.
The Quads were sent out first and parts of the track were like creek crossings, all the Pro's Intermediates and Clubmans were out together, all riders from the pits and spectators lined the infamous Quarry to check out the action to see if the track would hold up and see how the quads handled the creek crossing at the bottom, The pro's seemed to take it in their stride, wheely across the water, while some of the clubmans got an absolute drowning in the muddy water.
By the time seven other classes practised, the loader did a little maintenance, it was decided to start racing.

Race 1 saw Chad McKay out chasing down Ryan Lancaster, and Luke Gaisford battling it out with Glen Ashworth and Josh Higson, Gaisford passed them both, getting into 3rd place, but when entering the quarry he got sideways off the lip of the infamous jump, and crashed down the face of the quarry, Ashworth took 3rd, Higson 4th and Gaisford settled for 5th.

Race 2 Lancaster again jumped to the lead to let the others race it out between themselves, McKay this time was back in 5th and unable to get amongst it, while Gaisford passed Higson then Ashworth, Higson passed Ashworth and between the four riders going into round 3 they shared 38 points a piece.

Race 3 Saw Glen Ashworth take the lead in front of Lancaster, but Lancaster soon took the lead back, Mckay and Gaisford overtook Ashworth then battled out the 6 lap journey with barely a bike length between them, Gaisford commented how hard he pushed himself and how many times he almost came to grief, only to look up and see McKay in the same predicament up on one wheel, or hanging over the bars.

Round 4 1st Ryan Lancaster  75pts 2nd Chad McKay 60pts 3rd Luke Gaisford 58pts
Series Leaders 1st Ryan Lancaster 294pts 2nd Luke Gaisford 247pts 3rd Glen Ashworth 196pts

The days racing came to a close, the weather had held out, the track didnt get anywhere near as bad as usual, the bar was full of people, the raffles were drawn, presentations done and then…. The storm hit.

July 4th 2010
Went to Wanneroo "AJS" for club run before this weekends state round. There were 15 quads on the grid, including most of the riders that will be there this weekend, except Lancaster & Clarke

1st race, got into the first corner behind Chad McKay,he had an incident with someone to his right and flipped it in front of me, he landed on the track and to avoid running over his head, I stopped and waited for him to get up. Took off and by now I was along way behind Glen Ashworth who had taken off to about 19 second lead. The races at AJS are 5 laps and I got passed everyone except Glen who finished about 5 seconds in front. Race 2 Glen got out to a lead, and I was on his back wheels, track lines were tight and Glen made a small error, capitalised on it and passed him and took off to the win. Race 3 cool, got the holeshot, track was pretty messy and took a bad line, Ashworth passed me, but pushed hard and passed him back, took the win and looked to race 4.
Race 4 there was only 7 on the grid, Tony Case with his 530 KTM had 2 holeshots and he took the third one in race 4, Chad and I closed in on him trying to pull the pass in the rough stuff, Chad got the jump and went to the lead, getting through I sat on his back wheels til an error cost Chad through the quarry, got in front and just kept the speed up. Finished the day with 2nd and 3 1st' s pretty good day.
